Academic Administrative Coordinator
This position serves as the first point of contact for the Departments of Geology and Environmental Science and the Department of Physics and Astronomy undergraduate administration units. The incumbent is responsible for the development and coordination of the departments' course scheduling process, as well as the initiation and participation of daily support functions for faculty, staff and students. Provides comparable service and backup to other Dietrich School areas when needed. Responsibilities include but are not limited to administrative office coverage, providing information to current and prospective students and faculty regarding academic policies and procedures, all course scheduling actions, maintaining classroom schedules, and marketing the undergraduate programs via social media.
Job Summary
Performs various administrative and student services duties in support of a school. Facilitates human resources recruiting support for faculty, staff, and students; student registration; coordination of teaching schedules; and other related faculty and student services.
Essential Functions
The successful candidate will use a computer extensively. They must be capable of oral, written, and electronic communications. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. In addition to a computer, they must be able to use a telephone and other general office equipment including but not limited to fax machines, photocopiers, scanners, printers, etc.
Physical Effort
This position is generally sedentary within an office setting, but the ability to travel around campus is occasionally necessary. Also, must be able to pick-up and carry 25 pounds.
