Description
Job Summary:The Admission Data Analyst reports to the Director of Admission Systems. This position maintains the data integrity of the Admissions systems and provides functional user and high-level technical expertise. This position is responsible for the primary data flow of the Admissions databases including, but not limited to, SLATE, PeopleSoft, ImageNow and the TCU data warehouse. This position is also responsible for processing, analyzing, and preparing data for output, and conducting full lifecycle analysis of the admissions data process to aid in data-driven decision making and planning. This position will develop data analysis and reporting capabilities for the Office of Admission, while developing quality control plans to identify improvements.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
1. Interprets prospective student's admissions data, conducts analysis using statistical techniques (regression, clustering, machine learning) and provides ongoing reports. Communicates findings and insight to stakeholders and provide business strategy recommendations for optimizing performance.
2. Leads and conducts advanced analytics leveraging predictive modeling, machine learning, simulation, optimization and other techniques to deliver insights in complex data sets.
3. Develop analytical solutions to achieve business objectives to optimize admissions decisions and other business operations.
4. Lead long- and short-term CRM projects that aim to answer open ended business questions. Show full lifecycle ownership and leadership.
5. Designs, maintains and supervises the import/export process for various mass data entry loads; edit large data sets to ensure accuracy on uploads; bridges information on a daily basis to/from SLATE/PeopleSoft and all IR office and one-stop shop interfaces.
6. Builds and maintains database mapping and import and export rules of a wide range of source files, including Royall, Common Application, Apply Texas, Cappex, Chegg, ACT, AP, SAT, NTC, eScript, Raise.Me, PeopleSoft Imports, etc. and areas related to processing student applications and reports.
7. Develops procedures to automate manually performed procedures.
8. Serves as the product expert for forms, imports, exports, creating standards and procedures for data integrity and consistency.
9. Keeps current with SLATE and PeopleSoft updates/changes, as well as maintains and updates new data layouts, etc.
10. Monitors exception reports, logs, and alerts daily to maintain data and system integrity. Reports data discrepancies as well as reports trends for imports.
11. Grants security access to SLATE, maintains confidentiality of sensitive data transfer.
12. Troubleshoots application issues and/or problems with limited direction and escalates issues to SLATE and Information Systems for resolution as needed.
13. Manages other members of the analytics team, including analysts, interns and student workers.
14. Trains end users on approved workflows and new processes.
15. Develops technical and end user documentation.
16. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
• Master's degree in technical field and 2 plus years' data analysis experience.
OR
• Bachelor's degree and 4 plus years' data analysis experience.
OR
• High school diploma or GED and 8 plus years' data analysis experience.
Preferred Education & Experience:
• PhD in technical field with research related to analytics.
• 3 plus years' technical experience in a higher education environment.
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
• None
Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:
• Tableau, SQL.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Knowledge of PeopleSoft, SLATE, or other higher education CRM tools.
• Knowledge of MS Excel, Python or R, Tableau, SQL for writing queries for extracting information out of databases.
• Skill with verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills to effectively perform system support duties.
• Ability to derive insight from large amounts of data from diverse sources.
• Ability to learn new applications.
• Ability to process time sensitive and confidential data and information from multiple sources, make decisions, and communicate actions.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and work independently, or as part of a project team, to complete multiple tasks.
• Ability to perform detailed work and to apply strategic vision in the creation of new, more efficient business processes.
• Ability to identify potential process and workflow improvements and make recommendations to management.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and high pressure/high stakes environment.

Work Environment:
• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
