- Advanced Heart Failure / Transplant Cardiologist
Description
We seek to add to our growing complement of Heart Failure Cardiologists in London, Ontario which currently consists of 4 individuals. We are Canada's longest continuously operating Heart Transplant Centre with over 800 transplants since 1981. We currently perform 15-20 transplants per year and have a full VAD program with both bridge-to-transplant and destination therapy indications. We also boast large cardiac amyloid and pulmonary hypertension clinics along with an advanced heart failure and transplant Fellowship Program.
Our program supports a large geographic area with most referrals coming from Southwestern and Northern Ontario encompassing approximately 5 million residents. Our new colleague would work with us at London Health Sciences Centre (University and Victoria sites) and St. Joseph’s Hospital, London – all of which are large academic centres and fully affiliated with Western University – one of Canada’s premier scientific research institutions. Full tenure track position is being offered and all academic ranks will be considered. Compensation provided both from fee-for-service billings and academic remuneration.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Fellowship training in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation in Canada, the US, or Royal College accredited jurisdiction (Australia, Hong Kong, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, United Kingdom)
- Canadian citizens, permanent residents or visa-eligible individuals
- Management of the full spectrum of heart failure
- Demonstrable academic interest in medical education, clinical or translational research, quality improvement, knowledge translation, patient engagement or other academic interests will be strongly considered
- Superior training and interpersonal skills
Additional Qualifications TO BE CONSIDERED
- Training in coronary angiography and invasive HF procedures (e.g. remote hemodynamic monitor implants, ECLS cannulation, IABP insertion)
- Training in echocardiography
- Training in electrophysiology /cardiac device implantation
- Training in cardiac rehabilitation/preventive cardiology
- Training in cardio-oncology
