The Department of Civil Engineering (CE) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in broad area of transportation engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor. The CE Department offers BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering, and a BS degree in Construction Engineering Technology. The Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering (NACOE) offers a PhD degree in engineering with a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Applied Mechanics option.
Full-time tenure track appointments in the Department of Civil Engineering will have primary responsibilities in teaching, research, and service. Successful candidates will become an integral member of the Department, with duties to include teaching courses in the curriculum, contributing to program and curriculum development, developing a nationally recognized research program with extramural funding, and participating in professional/service activities.
Candidates should have a strong research background in one or more of the following areas: smart infrastructure systems, infrastructure applications of AI or machine learning, transportation infrastructure systems or safety. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with the Western Transportation Institute (WTI) and other faculty to expand the University’s research portfolio in transportation infrastructure technology-driven initiatives. Preference will be given to candidate with a demonstrated ability to engage in multidisciplinary research to develop a cross-cutting research programs.
