We are Growing! The Department of Computer Information Systems in the Walker College of Business
at Appalachian State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position for an Assistant
Professor, with a preference for a start in January (Spring) 2026. The successful candidate will be
committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service in an institution dedicated to undergraduate
and graduate education. The Walker College of Business is committed to ensuring that its graduates are
equipped to succeed in an increasingly innovative, multicultural, and interdependent world.
January (Spring) 2026 is the preferred start date. An August (Fall) 2026 start may be considered for
extremely qualified candidates.
Requirements
Qualifications required are a Ph.D. in Information Systems (IS) or a terminal degree, such as DBA or
DSc, in a closely related field from an accredited institution by the employment start date. The applicant’s
academic concentration, research programs, or professional experience should be in areas directly related
to IS, cybersecurity, business analytics, and/or artificial intelligence (AI). Applicants must be able to
demonstrate teaching excellence at the collegiate level, along with a strong commitment to high-quality
research in the field. Relevant teaching experience at the university level in the field of IS, cybersecurity,
business analytics, and/or AI is expected, along with a record of ongoing research activity leading to
publications in peer-reviewed journals. The successful candidate should have the ability to teach at both
the graduate and undergraduate levels.
