Description
Data Scientist I
We are seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist to join our group of physicists, radiologists, engineers, and computer scientists dedicated to advancing medical imaging research. The primary focus of our group's endeavors is quantitative image analysis and artificial intelligence (AI), with a specific emphasis on pioneering AI algorithms for image analysis to facilitate and optimize early disease screening, diagnosis, and treatment.
Ideal candidates should possess a M.S. or PhD (or equivalent) in computer science, mathematics, bioengineering, electrical engineering, or other related areas with an emphasis on medical imaging and AI. We are especially interested in applicants with a strong background and proven publication record in quantitative medical image analysis. The candidate will be responsible for image data curation and interpretation, and AI algorithm development and validation. Effective oral and written communication skills are essential. Successful applicants will integrate into a dynamic, collaborative research environment, collaborating closely with applied and clinical investigators with different backgrounds on a wide variety of internal and NIH-funded projects.
Given our proximity to Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), potential candidates have the opportunity to leverage existing collaborations or establish new ones with world-leading machine learning experts at CMU. We encourage candidates to pursue extramural research grants independently, supporting their evolution into independent investigators through mentorship on grant writing, publications in top journals, and providing opportunities to attend career development seminars/workshops from the university and national organizations.
