JOB SUMMARY
Engineer (Systems), Journeyman to support PMA-261, Systems Engineering Department (SED) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The program is providing systems engineering support of weapons systems on various platforms including technical research and development of technologies, analysis, and documentation as part of the acquisition of Aircraft, Weapon, and Integrated Systems and the evaluation of their technical performance, mission suitability and associated acquisition risks throughout the full acquisition process and lifecycle of a program.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Apply engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate military weapons systems.
- Understand safety process, hazards documentation, safety regulations compliance and report. Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.
- Applies systems engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management, quality assurance testing, or acquisition and resource management.
- Analyzes, designs, develops, implements, tests, or evaluates software, components, or systems related to engineering or functional requirements of military weapons systems, associated support systems, or management information systems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Must hold a BA/BS degree in a technical field or scientific field from an accredited college or university
- Must have three (3) years of recent and relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience in an area of engineering expertise is required
- Must have experience with safety engineering
- Understands the safety process, hazards documentation, safety regulations compliance and reporting
- Understands what constitutes a hazard.
SECURITY CLEARANCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher
- Must be a US Citizen
- Driving or renting a car for company business is expected with some frequency. For insurance purposes, a valid driver's license is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
TRAVEL REQUIRED
- Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position for meetings, trainings, and/or site visits.
