- Master's Graduate Student Opportunity in Biogeochemistry
Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Master’s student to join our research group in the field of Biogeochemistry. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing research focused on trace element cycling, including nutrient and trace metals in natural environments, and contaminant (e.g., heavy metals and radionuclides) transport in natural and cementitious environments.
This project will involve laboratory experiments, field sampling, and spectroscopic/analytical characterization to advance the understanding of phosphorus and natural organic matter cycling in wetland environments and the disposal of iodine and technetium in cementitious environments.
Responsibilities
Conduct field and/or laboratory-based geochemical research.
Perform data collection, analysis, and interpretation using advanced analytical techniques (e.g., UV-Vis spectroscopy, ICP-MS, XRD, XRF, Alpha and Gamma Spectrometry etc.).
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team.
Present findings at conferences and prepare results for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Marine Science, Radiochemistry, or a related discipline.
Strong background in geochemistry, analytical chemistry, radiochemistry, hydrology, or related areas.
Laboratory and/or field experience is highly desirable.
Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
Motivation to pursue independent research and graduate-level coursework.
