Responsibilities: The research-related responsibilities of this position will include: Computational modeling of flow and intramural stresses in cerebral vessels in healthy and diseased states. Further development and application of custom code for calcification phenotyping of calcified vessels; Collaboration on uniaxial failure studies of calcified vessels; Writing journal publications; Preparing reports that summarize the work conducted for progress reports to funding agencies; Planning, developing, and implementing technical and scientific research programs; Contributing to proposal writing and acquisition of preliminary data.
Required Educational Background: Applicant must have a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering, bioengineering or closely related fields.
Required Skillset: For the research component of the position, the required skillset includes: Strong background in computational modeling; Ability to perform FSI simulations using ANSYS or other commercial packages; Ability to apply machine learning algorithms to build 3D reconstructed models of biological organs from stacks of 2D CT data; Other required skill sets include effective verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work both independently and within a team structure, delivering project components on given time schedules; Ability to mentor junior colleagues; Ability to multitask. Desired skills include high-resolution multiphoton microscopy and multiphoton imaging.
