Description
Location:Bangalore, KA, INAbout the Role:
Swiss Re is one of the world's leading providers of risk transfer. You will join the Swiss Re Institute; a global team of insurance market and economic researchers responsible for analyzing how industry developments and the economic environment interact to impact risk transfer. Your analysis will be communicated internally and externally through reports like the flagship sigma publications available on Swiss Re's website. We are a global team located in Zurich, New York, Bratislava, Hong Kong and Beijing.
Key tasks and responsibilities include:
- Author and contribute to Swiss Re Institute's thought leadership. This involves identifying purpose driven messages, framing relevant questions and locating appropriate datasets.
- Collect, curate and analyze large data sets to support research projects and form well-reasoned, evidence-based conclusions.
- The goal is to write carefully argued position papers/briefings/reports extending to 10-30 pages (e.g. Swiss Re's sigma, Expertise Publications), that are disseminated to clients.
- This involves situational awareness of global events, policy actions, and capital flows to anticipate implications for risk transfer.
- It also involves applying statistics, machine learning and analytic approaches to support data-driven research (knowledge of R, Stata, Matlab, Python and GenAI frameworks).
- All projects involve preparing high-quality PowerPoint slides and presenting findings to stakeholders (e.g. a market outlook to clients, briefing materials for senior executives, etc.).
About You:
An advanced degree from a top-tier institution. Preferred backgrounds include insurance, economics, political science, statistics or other disciplines involving literature reviews and long-form written output (such as dissertations/thesis).
- You have 2-5 years of data-driven research experience in a relevant setting such as investment research, economic policy, financial journalism, strategy consulting, or editorial analysis.
- You have written data-backed high-quality publications concisely and insightfully in a deadline-driven environment, e.g. technical reports, journal submissions, and conference presentations.
- You are an avid reader with a strong foundation in global markets and macroeconomic dynamics, with deep curiosity about secular themes such as deglobalization, demographics, and AI.
- You are content-focused, with strong attention to detail and can ensure factual accuracy by diligently checking data and information before publication.
- Experience in the insurance industry, and industry certifications would be an added advantage.
- You love working with data in Microsoft Excel but also with databases and statistical software.
