TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF FINANCE
The Department of Finance in the Trulaske College of Business at the University of Missouri (MU) invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions beginning in Fall 2026. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong potential for conducting high-quality research and publishing in top-tier finance journals. A commitment to impactful, high-quality teaching at the undergraduate (BSBA), graduate (MBA), and doctoral levels is also required. The teaching load is competitive and aligned with research expectations.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have earned a terminal degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Finance or a closely related discipline by the start date of the appointment.
Evaluation Criteria
Candidate’s academic research and teaching interests may include, but are not limited to, corporate finance, investments, financial markets, and fintech (including applications in AI and machine learning). Evidence of successful teaching at the undergraduate or MBA level, as well as a willingness to teach online courses, is desirable. Demonstrated scholarship beyond the dissertation will be viewed favorably by the search committee. Experienced candidates should have an established record of publication in the top finance journals, a continuing research program with strong potential for top-tier publications, and a willingness to teach in the MBA and/or Ph.D. programs.
About the Department of Finance at MU
The Department of Finance is home to a collegial, highly productive, and dedicated faculty with expertise across a wide range of finance areas. In addition to providing exceptional instruction, our faculty regularly publish in top-tier finance journals, including the Journal of Finance (JF), Journal of Financial Economics (JFE), Review of Financial Studies (RFS), and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis (JFQA), among others.
The Department of Finance offers both required and elective courses for the BS in Business Administration and MBA programs and maintains an active Ph.D. program. The department fosters a highly supportive research environment. Available resources include extensive data access through WRDS, CRSP, SDC, Bloomberg, Compustat, BoardEx, Pitchbook, and other databases. Additional support includes a resident database programming assistant, research assistants (doctoral students), and summer research funding.
About the Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business
Founded in 1914, the Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business enrolls nearly 4,500 students and comprises four academic units: Finance, Management, Marketing, and Accountancy. The college offers an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, a full-time MBA, and a 150-hour program that confers both undergraduate and master’s degrees in Accountancy. In addition, the college offers online graduate degrees in Finance and Accountancy, as well as Ph.D. degrees in Business Administration and Accountancy. The college takes great pride in its graduates. More than 32,000 alumni are contributing their expertise to the public and private sectors in every state in the U.S. and in numerous countries around the world.
